Using a sensor to provide accurate and timely readings, typical heat stress monitors determine temperature using WBGT index values, then compare this value to a reference temperature. When a person’s (or area’s) heat stress index becomes too high, the heat stress monitor will register the dangerous heat level. Depending on the model of heat stress monitor, the device will operate within a pre-set temperature range, and calibrate itself upon powering on.
