Noise / Sound Level Meters

Sound pressure levels are typically measured in decibels by noise level meters. In noisy industrial workplaces, it is necessary (and mandated by law) that an A-frequency-weighted filter is included in the sound level meter to protect workers against damaging decibel levels that could permanently affect their hearing.

Sound level meters are categorized into two general classes: class 1 and class 2. Class 1 noise level meters typically measure a wider frequency range and uphold a tighter tolerance than class 2 sound level meters. Sound level measurement devices can also be classified according to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) or the International Electrotechnical Commissions (IEC) criteria. Concept Controls offers three categories of sound level measurement devices: noise dosimeters, sound level meters, and audiometric equipment.
