Water quality monitoring involves an array of processes that sample, measure, record, or signal significant water traits in an effort to verify whether water adheres to specific standards or contains contaminants. There are several different approaches to water quality monitoring, depending on the intent of the process. Sometimes monitoring requires a focus on trends in water quality over an extended time-frame and monitoring fluctuations in quality.  Other applications determine if water quality is compliant with industry standards, while still others require data collection to develop a water pollution prevention plan. All of these processes require water analysis, which can be done using an array of water quality monitoring devices.
